Joan Dempsey

I am a resident of Strathroy, ON. And, a member of, The Art Group of Strathroy-Caradoc , I took my formal education at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, AB., a BFA in Art and Design, and an Art and Design Program at Red Deer College, Red Deer, AB.I derive great satisfaction in exploring, the many facets involved in the making of art. Both those I am familiar with and the processes and mediums that I am not. My interest is with the part to part relationship of the elements and finishing techniques. My preferred medium is sculpture but, I do some printmaking and painting. I derive great satisfaction in exploring, experiencing and putting into practice the processes and mediums involved in the making of art, both those I am familiar with and the exploration of processes and mediums that I am unfamiliar with. The procedures involved in taking a piece from an initial idea to completion. The time spent at developing some degree of artistic skill, learning my art, has given me the opportunity to further increase my knowledge and understanding plus, a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction. My influences are music, the beauty reflected by the geometry in architecture and the rhythms of the seasonal transitions within the natural environment.
